SIH MRPL — Aura One

A passive H₂S dosimeter research project pairing an Aura Band with a mobile reading, record and reporting workflow.

● Research prototype

Built with
Flutter / Dart / Computer Vision / Python

The problem

Occupational exposure monitoring needs a traceable link between a worker, a monitoring period and a reading. Aura One investigates a passive colour-changing band that could record cumulative hydrogen sulphide exposure, paired with a phone-based reading workflow.

The approach

The project combines a physical Aura Band prototype, a Flutter application and a deterministic image-processing engine written in Dart. The software identifies the badge, corrects perspective and colour using printed references, checks reading quality, and manages worker records, HSE review and on-device reporting. The linked repository documents the measurement pipeline and its research status. Screens shown here come from the project’s demonstrations and test fixtures.

System flow

  1. Scan and identify the Aura Band
  2. Assign it to a worker and monitoring period
  3. Capture a final photograph
  4. Check image quality and extract optical features
  5. Record the result state for review and reporting

Outcome

The band and software are research prototypes. H₂S calibration and laboratory validation remain pending; the project does not claim validated exposure measurements. The passive band is not a real-time gas alarm.
